On Saturday, Coldplay’s concert at the World Games venue drew 84,000 music enthusiasts, outnumbering the Korean girl group BLACKPINK. On Sunday, another record high was set, with 86,000 people in attendance. The tourism output value surpassed NT$330 million for two days. From January to November of this year, Kaohsiung hosted over 50 concerts, attracting over 800,000 people. According to a conservative estimate, the tourism output value has surpassed NT$1.6 billion.
According to Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation statistics, the number of people traveling to and from the concert venue via Kaohsiung Metro from the R17 World Games Station exceeded 32,000 for the entire day (12th). With the help of music enthusiasts, 11,800 passengers were transported via the Kaohsiung Metro Zuoying shuttle buses, a 40% increase over the previous day. The Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation also sent personnel to keep a close eye on the stations’ surveillance images and station access data in order to plan traffic flow distribution for southbound dispatches from the World Games Station. Following the conclusion of the concert, the traffic flow distribution of the World Games began. The bus schedules were intensified after the concert to ensure smooth traffic flow, allowing music enthusiasts to successfully ride the Kaohsiung Metro.
