【Kaohsiung News】 The British rock band Coldplay’s concert concluded yesterday (12th). In addition to Kaohsiung City Mayor Chen Chi-mai, who was at the venue’s emergency response center to monitor traffic flow distribution, the Kaohsiung Metro Red Line, Orange Line, and Light Rail continued to intensify schedules to increase traffic flow distribution momentum. The general public maintained good order when entering and exiting the venue. According to statistics, the number of attendees at the concert yesterday reached 86,505, an increase of 1,647 people over the previous day, distributing the traffic flow in 88 minutes. On Saturday, Coldplay’s concert at the World Games venue drew 84,000 music enthusiasts, outnumbering the Korean girl group BLACKPINK. On Sunday, another record high was set, with 86,000 people in attendance. The tourism output value surpassed NT$330 million for two days. From January to November of this year, Kaohsiung hosted over 50 concerts, attracting over 800,000 people. According to a conservative estimate, the tourism output value has surpassed NT$1.6 billion.
According to Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation statistics, the number of people traveling to and from the concert venue via Kaohsiung Metro from the R17 World Games Station exceeded 32,000 for the entire day (12th). With the help of music enthusiasts, 11,800 passengers were transported via the Kaohsiung Metro Zuoying shuttle buses, a 40% increase over the previous day. The Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation also sent personnel to keep a close eye on the stations’ surveillance images and station access data in order to plan traffic flow distribution for southbound dispatches from the World Games Station. Following the conclusion of the concert, the traffic flow distribution of the World Games began. The bus schedules were intensified after the concert to ensure smooth traffic flow, allowing music enthusiasts to successfully ride the Kaohsiung Metro. Appreciation is extended to music enthusiasts for their cooperation and patience.
According to the Transportation Bureau, the Kaohsiung Metro distributed traffic flow totaling 565,000 people for the two-day concert. Furthermore, the crowd at the Kaohsiung Metro was diverted, and additional shuttle buses were dispatched at the conclusion of the concert, totaling 40 shuttle buses. Additionally, the personnel of bureaus and divisions totaling approximately 1,100 people were mobilized. The traffic flow distribution completion time was less than the original goal during the period, setting a new record in traffic flow distribution.
According to the Transportation Bureau, the World Games venue is currently the venue that can accommodate the most people in concerts. Music enthusiasts are thanked for their assistance with the Kaohsiung City Government’s traffic flow distribution planning, and the “taking rides, walking, and not driving” approach was adopted. Residents and agencies in the surrounding areas are also thanked for complying with various traffic control measures. Finally, the Transportation Bureau invited music enthusiasts to stay in Kaohsiung and tour the scenic attractions of Kaohsiung City by presenting their Food Plus Vouchers.
